Perspective

Going for a walk with a 5 year old can be an enlightening experience. Any small piece of the scenery can suddenly take on magnified importance. On a walk with little Ryan yesterday, we noticed numerous busy pill bugs scurrying by as quickly as an animal the size of a pencil eraser can go.

"They're very busy," he noticed. Yes, I agreed that they did seem hurried and intent. "maybe they think we are big and slow." Maybe. "Maybe they think that means we don't notice anything." Hmm, I guess that's possible.

Five minutes later, he looks up at the tall trees surrounding us. "We must look like pill bugs to those trees. I wonder if that's why people don't think trees notice anything?" Well now, that's an interesting thought. Makes me examine my world view a bit. What do you think?
