Winter Solstice

As we run around honoring our modern holidays, it's easy to forget that they are all celebrated at this time of year because our ancestors wanted to rejoice in the fact that the shortest day of the year had passed and that soon the sun and warmth and green, growing plants would return to nurture us all.

Our planet and its relationship to the sun is such a profoundly beautiful system. The very fact that we have seasons to enjoy, that help us to pace ourselves through the year, is an amazing blessing. So while we wish each other love, and joy and peace, let's remember to be thankful that Mother Gaia faithfully turns each year at this time towards the light.
