POWER MODE

Updated: Jul 26

Do you ever find yourself shopping at Costco or the grocery store and find people coming up to you to ask where to find their items? Have you ever been stuck in an elevator and the other 3 people immediately look to you to ask what to do next? If you frequently have these types of situations arise you are probably in Power Mode.

Our Mode is the Overleaf we use to achieve our goals, our modus operandi as it were, and Power imbues us with a natural air of authority that starts even at a very young age. When you see that kid on the playground directing the other children on how to play, you betcha that’s a power mode kid.

Why would you choose to be in Power Mode?

Power Mode does not just make us bossy; it gives us a sense of purpose, determination, and self-direction. Power Mode people do not wait around for others to tell them what to do; if they don’t know, they will research it or try whatever seems logical. This natural tendency to take things in hand makes a Power Mode person an excellent leader or teacher, as well as imbuing a finely honed sense of discovery and research. Power mode people may not know how to direct you to the frozen peas, but they will find out for you and more quickly than you would probably discover for yourself.

If you’ve chosen Power Mode, you’ve chosen to be a leader rather than a follower, a person capable in many different arenas, and you find yourself comfortable handling emergencies.

In our system, Power Mode slides most frequently to its polar opposite, which is Caution Mode. If a situation looks tricky or suspicious and barreling forward doesn’t look wise, Power Mode folks will slide to Caution and proceed very carefully if at all, while sniffing out whatever may be a problem.

Because of this, Power Mode people are rarely caught unaware by challenges and difficulties and tend to work through problems relatively quickly and smoothly. They can generally provide a good base foundation of security for themselves and their families.

Power Mode people are practical and logical, as well as simply being capable and organized. One small caveat, sometimes others can find you intimidating, and because you usually realize this early in life, you will either have developed a very affable charisma or simply become very adept at using your RBF (Resting B***h Face)

You nailed it. I'm in Power Mode. I was that bossy kid who had to learn to temper it. I initiate things. I lead without intending to lead necessarily. In fact, it takes some boundary setting to keep from being pulled into leadership positions I don't want. Nicely written as well, JP. Thanks.
