Robin

How often do we look outside to see chubby robins hopping through the grass and smile just because it's spring? Why are robins such uplifting birds anyway? Is it their bright orange belly? Their cheerful song? Actually, we all have unconscious associations that we make about animals all the time without realizing it. Edgar Allan Poe's poem would have never made the same impact if he'd had a robin hopping about chirping "Nevermore." We associate ravens with the dark, the night, death, and funerals; but robins are lucky enough to symbolize good cheer, enough to eat, happiness, and new beginnings. Just having a picture of an animal around puts us internally in touch with our subconscious associations; so, for today, here's a robin for you. You're welcome.
