So often we are told to buck up, gather our courage, be strong, and be quiet in the face of stress and tragedy. For some of us, toughing it out is not only doable, but our preferred method of handling upset. For others, however; the more sensitive among us, pushing through just means repressing and neglecting to process and truly deal with valid feelings.
The world has many oak trees, but it is also home to delicate flowers. Both are beautiful; both are valid. Oaks are not necessarily unfeeling, flowers are not necessarily whiners. Be kind. Let's embrace our differences.
